7-Up and candy....

Remember this birthday girl from the beginning of November?

It was a big day for the little girl.  For her brother too.  It marked the first time he had ever had pop of any kind.  7-Up gives you this little buzz when you are 3, I guess, because he thought it was God's gift of a drink to mankind.  But he knew that this must be a special fluid for birthdays only.  That must be its' God intended use.

Before my Dengue Diagnosis Abe was sick.  I started a blog confessing his high fevers of three days and our plan to go to a Doctor.  Finally.  (when I say high fevers I mean over 103 coupled with rash)

Doctor K. insisted on a slew of blood tests and it was those blood tests that revealed Abe just had a passing flu.  It was also Dr. K's tests we used to go by ourselves to a lab and get me checked.  You see we don't have an adult doctor.  When I confessed this to a friend in the city she revealed she had once gone to Dr. K (a pediatrician by the way) for her own needs not knowing where to turn.  She figured he would just chalk it up to her crazy foreignness.  Her idea, had escaped me, I will be using next time I am pole-axed by some horrid illness like Bone Break Disease.

In the midst of Abe's sickness he felt little appetite so I plied him with 7-Up and crackers.  When he sipped his whole cup of 7-Up he quietly questioned,

"Is it Zana's birthday again?"

And I thought the cake, or maybe the craft, or maybe the balloons would be what he remembered but nope, it was the drinks!

After he finished he asked hopefully,  "Can I have more.......juice?"

I had to burst his little bubble and tell him the truth that this was not juice and we only have it when we are very sick.  Maybe being sick is not so bad.  Kind of like a birthday for Abe.

7-Up however does not work against Dengue.  I tried it.
