In a country professing to be a majority vegetarian my son's interest in the word carnivore distresses us at random times. Today while reading the Prodigal Son Abe's interest tweeked at the word "fattened calf." At first he thought this was the sacrificial lamb, Jesus but deeper study revealed the calf meant a party. I hollered (why talk about parties calmly and quietly) "Every good party has meat."
There was a processing pause into which I hollered a modification, "Every good party has meat and CAKE." The children cheered. Then Zana with her usual intensity grabbed my cheek and got her face into my face and added her own alteration, "and daaaaaal." Yep every good party people has....meat, cake, and daal.
Daal is lentil stew. Am I raising an Esau? Hopefully food won't be her downfall. For now in our house a good party will include meat, cake and daal.
Hope you are partying your way in your house too.
