Cheeks, Cameras, and Zoo Babies

Lucknow zoo, as stated yesterday is a great place to visit if you haven't been to an American zoo in the last year or ten.  They recently exchanged numerous animals for some new lions.  It made national news.  It is a bustling large grounds that not only houses animals but also art museums, children's parks, a small pond to boat in, and sculpture gardens.

We arrived at the zoo in the lull of the afternoon and rambled around through the shaded lanes.  There was a feeling of holiday in our hearts that made everything a little more rosy.  But we were still in India and we were still with two little white babies.  Who needs a picture with a tiger behind bars when you can get your mug taken with a cherub!

Abe and Zana are experts at dipping their heads down avoiding a pinching by the passing strangers who duck in for a rough pluck of their cheeks. However, thankfully, they allow lovely friends to pinch away when we are in their homes or see them on the street.  Strangers think they have the right and they don't.

The zoo had its hairy moments of frenzied toddler adoration.  However for the most part the animals were the main attraction. Abe and Zana were enamored with a huge rhino who galumphed around his large enclosure with a clutch of deer and a gaggle of peacocks in grand splendor.  The rhino was glorious to watch and rather more awe inspiring than the distant napping tiger.

Who wouldn't want a shot of her?

Notice the photo shoot.  Zana is always willing to comply.
Abe not so much and that is okay with us.
