Cockroaches

My husband just told me he is having a midlife crisis!  I giggled.  We are sitting at our computers headed off to bed soon but I just wanted to state that going out at night without my kids is great.

It is hot here.  Even the natives say so.  With an infant strapped on and a toddler connected the heat explodes.  So alone, at night, with a breeze.... great!  I felt kind of like a kid myself being out alone.

Not the kind of kid feeling I had today while sweating under a blanket in our homemade tent reading stories, or the kid feeling when I saw a car approaching when I was on my haunches, or the kid feeling of peekaboo with a daughter who smiles with upside down eyes.  This night time jaunt was the kind of kid feeling like jumping in a cool lake from an old car tire.  Adventure. Fun that comes from good but slightly guilty adventure.  ( I left two kids, a dirty kitchen and a load of laundry with my hubby.)

However the neighborhood had no electricity.   As I walked with my little light I scattered cockroaches!  Scattered.  Scattered.  Yuck.  Kind of fun when you get used to it.

Kid feeling fun that chases cockroaches through the streets with lights.
