1. Hot water in the kitchen. Yep! Four years of no hot running water in the kitchen went by without me really missing a warm spout. But now........ I love it. I love warmth, and soap and bubbles and red breasted robins eating worms out the window above my kitchen sink.
2. Parks. Muddy park today. But still it is a park and what is a little mud when it is a free park, (yes you have to pay in River City to go in one of the two parks I know about) with no crowds, no cheek pinchers, no baby snatchers, no staring groups of people. In fact there is no one but us at the park. Almost ever!
3. Neighbors. Not a one has looked into our windows or visited us in our home but yesterday one brave "Troy" crossed the road to meet us. He brought his small daughter and dog as a conversational buffer. I love his wife already. She is pregnant with twins. TWINS! I am respectfully horrified for her while rejoicing greatly. I love her living across the street as an ever growing reminder of my dear River City "sista'" who also has a little one doing somersaults in her womb.
4. Spring. I love spring. I love the green. The lushness. The thunderstorms.
5. I love the sound of sirens in America. We hear the firefighters everyday. I am so overwhelmingly thankful for their presence and for the security blanket comfort they ooze. There is no 9-1-1 in River City. Just Brendon the Roaming Gnome Nurse.
6. Stop Lights. Everyone obeys them. They make me giggle. I feel ironically fulfilled, civic-ally minded, and lawfully abiding as I stop for a sign when no one is around. Not a soul.
7. My kitchen. It is just bigger.
8. My fridge. It is just bigger.
9. Our bathroom. It is just bigger.
10. Our bedroom....our washing machine......our coffee pot.....my oven......the kid's room......the living room.......they are all just bigger. Everything is.
