"Mommy? I want a duck."
I don't think Ducks are allowed in city limits along with cows, pigs, and chickens. Not like India where they are everywhere. Sorry Zana no Duck Allowed.
"I want a chocolate duck like at Grandma's."
Aaaah the residue Easter candy still tucked away in the pantry is being requested as a mid morning breakfast.
Sure Zana can have a little Easter Chicken which she sees as a Duck devoid of any Holiday Correlation. In our family Easter is a Seder Meal, the candle which we move towards the cross for thirty days, and the rousing Easter songs we sing pretty much monotone with maracas. It has nothing to do with candy. For our little ones who never have been in the USA for Easter there was really no learning curve. Mostly because they only spent two Sundays at Grandma's and for one of those Sundays there were visitors so perhaps it just was different. They made no connection between the candy and Easter. The connection is Grandma's house and candy and visitors on Sunday.
I am not sure what is going to happen when we go to Grandma's for July Fourth. The expectation of my two may include a candy hunt after Sunday Lunch. I am trying to keep all of our expectations at a minimum but one gets so quickly used to parks, and libraries, and electricity, and English, and 911 and candy hunts at Grandma's on Sundays.
