Abe turned three on July First. We took him to Thailand for his birthday. Actually law requires we leave every six months from our host country and travel to a different nation. Stamp in, Stamp out, end of story for the dignitaries who make the laws but for a mommy who has to change diapers on planes, plan for time changes and do the laundry when we return it can feel a little daunting.
However the tickets are business but we can stay for the weekend or if we choose for vacation days! What a gift. So when tickets to Thailand were cheaper than going to Nepal (a lovely place I am assured but not quite as naturally endowed with beaches, yummy eats, and quiet) I cried with joy. Cried.
Abe celebrated his third birthday aboard a cheapo airline that gives water away for free on an international flight. That is all. A glass of water. Not quite Thai Air I must say but hey who could beat the price.
I brought party favors and as the rest of the budget fliers boarded we blew streamers and noisy buzzers and sang Happy Birthday. Zana is a party girl. She wore the hat Abe would not wear. She wore the mask and she blew buzzy noises even when she did not have a bahzoo. It was a great birthday party but I can't turn Zana off. Abe wanders around the house singing ABC over and over again and Zana well she just sings Happy Birthday....to ME all day long.
Yesterday we had to explain these songs are not available for choice during Family Worship. Zana our more independent child did not care and sang Happy Birthday anyways. Oh dear!
Hope your heart is singing today too. I am reeling from ABC which is starting to sound like Happy Birthday! May your song of the day have a few more words and a little more meat.
