Good friends just left. Their family of four was with us for five days, four nights.
It was amazing.
They are two of the most talented people that I know and watching their marriage was good for my soul. Since their kids aren't too much older they are sensitive enough to love the craziness of two toddlers destroying the place, making noise and being expressive in physical and noisy ways. Their kids had bucketfuls of grace for my two little ones that wanted to be right where the older ones were all the time.
They walked out the door to catch their train and I, rather than seeking out the mouse that is in my house (last spotted yesterday) and killing it (while screaming, been there done that),
Rather than wading through the six piles of laundry on my floor,
Rather than making the hummus I make usually on Monday or the summer cool potato chaat or dinner,
Rather than going shopping for more vegetables (we have onions and potatoes in the house,
Rather than blogging (this is a few hours later after their departure)
Rather than getting caught up with neighborhood baking (I think my upstairs neighbor is going into withdrawal)
Rather than straightening the living room,
Rather than sitting down and taking a nap, I crawled.
Crawled!
Two little ones that have not had their usual lunch date with just Mommy, or their usual talking snack time in the ungan on stools, or their "school time" (a silly craft and review for Abe) or their dance time (twirling daily with Zana) for a few days too many were on my heels crying. They were ready for ME!
What an amazing compliment.
So I got on my knees and they climbed on and off we went around and around the house till my knees hurt and we collapsed in giggles. It is the small things in life that make it so very fun and the great people in life who make it even better!
I just peeked in on them in their cool room and Zana is on top of Abe who is struggling to crawl with her on his back. Another amazing compliment, they are copying me.
