Happy Birthday to me. It came and went but due to God's great gracious kindness to me I got to celebrate with my Dad here. Hard knocks for this lady living overseas, I've had my sister living in country (not too close but got to see her half a dozen times), my mom came for both of my children's births, and my Dad here for my birthday this year. Can't say I've been bereft for my family. And this Birthday was no exception.
My Dad is a party on two legs who just needs other people to start the fun. We had a blast with my Dad who even got pizza for me on my Birthday. I felt like I was ten again and just needed a party hat.
This year however the big news on the Birthday front is my new toilet. I might be cursing the gift tomorrow when men show up to knock out the old to put in the new but for today I love the commode currently sitting in our office. I love that I will have a toilet which I can sit down on for the first time ever in India. An Italian collection Hindware toilet, well boxed, awaits installation which was scheduled to start today but was delayed till tomorrow (I'm not holding my breathe). Maybe it will get in before February 27th?!?!? (one month anniversary of my.... birthday).
Toilet shopping was a hoot. Think two rows of toilets in a store where there is no front door just a huge front door with no door. Then a huge area of tiles. Did you know that if you so wished you could get a picture tiled into your bathroom (the ocean), your kitchen (a very autumn cornucopia), or into your living room (choices ranged from the fuzzy puppies to the festive poppies).
All these lovely designs are arranged on walls with tiny lips to keep the whole wall of different tile picture sets from crashing down. The lips are about at toddler height and right where all the stacks of reject tiles meet the real tile displays. Heaven on earth for a mom of two toddlers.
Needless to say I walked in pointed at two toilets I liked. We bought the second one after about an hour of Hubster deliberating and me playing outside in the "alley way" with two antsy kiddos. I got what I wanted. A toilet for my birthday. Aaah the small pleasures of life.
